TOPIC: STEPS TO SALVATION
TEXT:- JOHN 3:17 "For God sent not a son into the world to
condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved".
Salvation is defined a freedom from the guilt of sin. It can also
be defined as everlasting life in eternity in the presence of God.
It is written in Romans 3:23 "for all have sinned and come
short the glory of God". Everyone born of a woman is a sinner.
And God is Holy, our born sin nature have separated us from God.
When we acknowledge this truth we have take a positive step.
Romans 6:23, tells us, "for the wages of sin is death, but
the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord".
If we therefore continue in sin, this will result in spiritual death,
which is separation from God forever.
But God promised us to send his son to us in the book of Isaiah
9:6 "for unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given; and
the government shall be upon his shoulder; is name shall called
Wonderful, Counselor, The Mighty God, The Everlasting Father, The
Prince Of Peace".
Isaiah 7:14 "Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign;
Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call
his name Immanuel".
Matthew 1:23. "Behold, a virgin shall be wilt child, and shall
bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Immanuel, which
being interpreted God is with us". Luke 1:26-27 And Angel Gabriel
was sent from God and in vrs. 28 to a virgin espoused to a man whose
name was Joseph and the virgin name Mary and in vrs. 31 behold you
shall conceive in your womb and bring forth a son and shall call
his name Jesus, and in vrs. 33. he shall reign over the house of
Jacob forever and of his kingdom. There shall be no end (Amen).
And in vrs. 35. And the angel answered and said unto her the Holy
Spirit shall come upon you, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow
you also that Holy thing which shall be born of you shall be called
the son of God; Praise the Lord. And in Mathew chapter 2, Jesus
was born (Amen). The promise of God came to pass by sending His
son to us because (God can never lie; what he promise He brought
it to pass).
So, through Jesus Christ salvation have be made a free gift. Jesus
Christ has paid the penalty, by dying on the cross of Calvary (Rom.
5:8.) But God commanded His love toward us in that while we were
yet sinners Christ died for us praise the Lord.
THE ONLY WAY ONE CAN BE SAVED: Is to be born again (John 1: 1-7).
There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the
Jews (John 3: 1-15) he came to Jesus by night and said to him that
I know you are teacher that came from God that no man can do the
miracles he is doing except God be with him. Jesus answered and
said unto him verily, verily, I say unto you, except a man is born
again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. He said to Jesus, how can
a man be born again when he is old or can he enter the second time
into his mother’s womb and be born. Jesus answered verily,
verily, I say unto you except a man be born of water and of the
spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born
of the flesh is flesh and that which is born of spirit is spirit,
marvel not that I said unto you, you must be born again.
So this is the one way one can be saved to salvation. Salvation
is only through Jesus Christ (Luke 1:69). Jesus Christ Himself made
this point very clear to us; no matter how logical or rational other
points of views may appear or sound, the Bible which is the word
of God, make us to understand that there is no other way to be saved
outside Lord Jesus Christ for the Bible teaches us that.
(John 10:9) Jesus Christ is the only door. And in (Acts 4:12) Jesus
Christ is the only Saviour. In (Act 15:11) Jesus Christ’s
grace is sufficient for us (Amen). And the book of (Romans 5:9),
is still telling us, Jesus Christ blood availeth for us. And in
(John 14:6) "Jesus said unto him, I am the way, the truth,
and the life: no man comes unto the Father, but by me".
So, Jesus Christ is the way to salvation. And in the book of (Philippians
2:9-10) "Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given
him a name which is above every name: that at the name of Jesus
every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth,
and things under the earth". Praise the Lord.
So in everything one needs to do ;it must be in the name of Lord
Jesus Christ.
WHAT WE MUST DO TO IN ORDER TO BE
SAVE?:
Believed that Jesus is the son of God, which came to die for you
and confess Him with your mouth( Rom. 10:10 ).For with the heart
man believes unto righteousness and with the mouth confession is
made unto salvation. And in the book of (Act 2:38) "Then Peter
said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the
name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and you shall receive
the gift of Holy Spirit".
So as you come to Jesus you must accept to be baptized, that is
after one has fully repented and it must be done in the name of
Jesus Christ (like as Peter did).
And it came to pass, that, while Paul having passed through the
upper country came to Ephesians and finding certain disciples. He
said unto them, received you the Holy Spirit when you believed,
and said unto him we have not so much as heard whether there be
any Holy Spirit. He said unto them, unto what then were you baptized
and they said, unto John baptism, then said Paul, John verily baptized
with the baptism of repentance saying unto the people, that they
should believe on him who should come after him that is on Christ
Jesus. When they heard this they were baptized in the name of Jesus
Christ and he laid hands upon them, the Holy Spirit come on them
an they spoke with tongues and prophesied (Acts. 19:1-6).
So we must follow the steps of our apostolic fathers; e.g. Apostle
Peter baptized in the name of Jesus Christ.
Remember in Philippians 2:9-10, in everything we do, we should endeavour
to do it in the name of Jesus Christ.
And once one has entered inside the water and comes out off it;
all foundational sins will be forgiven. Remember sins can only be
forgiven in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Not Father, son and
the Holy Spirit. Because, Father, son and Holy Spirit are (TITLES)
not (NAME) Mat. 28:19. As a believer we must know the name of our
God.
The name of our God is Jesus Christ and there is no other God beside
Him in heaven and earth (Amen).
After being baptized in the water, the person will now receive the
Holy Spirit (Act. 19:6). When apostles Paul had laid his hands upon
them and they spoke with tongues and prophesied. All we need to
do now is to come back to our Lord Jesus Christ and our lives will
never be the same (Amen).
